May Marketing Ideas That Drive
May is fast approaching. That means plenty of holidays and blockbuster movies to use as inspiration for your marketing efforts. Here are just a few of our favorites.
Marketing Ideas for May:
April 27th – Avengers: Infinity War. Ok, we cheated. This one is in April, but it is so close to the end of the month that you can use this mega-blockbuster for the foreseeable future. Super Heroes are big business. Use this to your advantage with “Super” deals or even plan a Super Hero themed event.
May 4th –Star Wars Day. Any fan of the franchise will know “May the 4th be with you.” Celebrate this fan holiday with flair. Maybe even have special offers for people who come dressed as their favorite character. Spoiler alert: there is another Star Wars event later in the month.
May 5th – Cinco de Mayo. Promote this popular holiday by celebrating everything south of the border. And no, it is NOT Mexican Independence Day. That is in September.
May 5th – Kentucky Derby. This one may be a bit more regional. “America’s Greatest Race” has many great and wonderful traditions. Large hats, garlands of roses, mint juleps, and of course horses.
May 8th – National Teachers Day. Celebrate the unsung heroes in our lives. Offer a special promotion for teachers (and students alike). Display teacher appreciation artwork in your store, or visit a class with a special treat.
May 13th – Mother’s Day. This one is major! Prepare your blasts weeks before this. Pull out all the stops for moms everywhere. Beautify your store with flowers. Offer a promotion for moms. And don’t forget to call your mom!
May 15th – National Chocolate Chip Day. For those of you in the delicious treats businesses, you can promote this day with any number of delectable goodies.
May 18th – Deadpool 2. Ok, grownup talk. This Super Hero movie is not for kids! However, if your business has interests that align with “the Merc with a mouth” go for it!
May 19th – Armed Forces Day. Show appreciation by offering a special discount or promotion to military personnel. Decorate your business with the flag.
May 23rd – Lucky Penny Day. This can be a fun opportunity to offer a 1 cent promotion. Try a buy one get one for a penny promotion. This can be a wonderful way to drive customers in with a great deal!
May 25th – Solo: A Star Wars Story. May is the month for Star Wars fans. Use a bounce-back special from May 4th as a sequel to your earlier special. Be creative and have fun.
May 26th – Blueberry Cheesecake Day. This one goes back to all you purveyors of sweet treats again. With the warmer weather comes opportunities for spring and summer food-based promotions.
May 28th – Memorial Day. For some of you, your business may be closed on Memorial Day, but try having promotions all weekend. Fire up the grill and enjoy!
