June is the time for  “Grads and Dads” but there are many other great events in June to plan promotions around. Here are a few to get you started on bringing customers back. Spoiler: There are a lot of dessert-based days in June.

Marketing Ideas for June:

June 1st – National Doughnut Day. Maybe not a huge draw, but a good customer relations tactic would be to pick up a few boxes and give customers a doughnut as a freebie just for walking in the door. Or if doughnuts are your “biz” try offering a special discount on boxes for all the customers that will be storming your gates!

June 7th – National Chocolate Ice Cream Day. Last year the IDFA (International Dairy Foods Association) declared Vanilla to be the top flavor in the United States. Now it’s time for Chocolate to retake the crown! If you are in the frozen desserts business this one can be a huge promotion. Try offering a discount or promotion on chocolate flavors.

June 12th – Red Rose Day. June is wedding season, and roses are by far the most popular botanical of choice for weddings. Create a special promotion for June Brides or create a promotion with your social media pages where people can post pictures of the roses in their garden for a discount or prize.

June 14th – Flag Day. Celebrate patriotism by offering a discount or special for everybody with an additional discount for military and first responders. Decorate your business with Red, White, and Blue. Give away miniature flags to help share the spirit of patriotism. (Plus it starts to set the stage for the 4th of July coming up!)

June 17th – Father’s Day. Help celebrate Dads everywhere by offering a discount or special all weekend. If your business is open Sundays have an extra special just for Dad. Just like Mother’s Day, try creating a special that kids can afford to get something for their dads.

June 18th – National Splurge Day. This is a great one to promote! This day gives people an excuse to pamper themselves or break their diet (just this day). Promotions like BUY ONE GET ONE, or 50% OFF are great ways to set the stage. FYI it is also International Sushi Day. Just throwing that out there.

June 21st – National Selfie Day. Use this day as a way to get customers to advertise your business for you! Offer a Bounce-Back special or discount for anyone that posts a selfie in your business on social media. Make sure they tag your business to get credit. Offer more if they leave you a great review!

June 22nd – National Chocolate Éclair Day. We warned you there were a lot of dessert-based days. This is a good one to use as a bounce back from National Doughnut Day.

June 22nd – Take your Dog to Work Day. While it may not necessarily work to have four-legged friends in your business, try a social media photo contest of people with their dog at THEIR workplace. Offer a discount for anyone that posts or shows a picture at the register. But if your business can be pet-friendly have a special treat for your canine customers as well (free Scooby snacks or similar).

June 23rd – National Pink Day. Getting customers to wear or do certain things for a discount or special can prove difficult. But if you preface that with a nationally promoted day you could get some results. – Note: this day is about the color only and not linked with Breast Cancer Awareness. That gets the whole month of October!
